The Marquette Mutineers will pair up with Northern Michigan University's Women's ACHA team for a doubleheader this Saturday, Jan 21 at Lakeview Arena. NMU faces off against Minnesota Duluth at 5:30 and the Mutineers will host the West Bend Bombers.

The opening game pairs two of the nation's top teams against each other, as NMU holds onto the top spot in the rankings with a 12-1-1 record. The Bulldogs are ranked third and are the defending ACHA national champions. This is the first game between the two programs since UMD eliminated NMU with a 3-2 double-overtime victory in the national semifinals.

Marquette will host one of the league's best in West Bend for the second game. The three-time defending GLHL regular season champs are sitting in second place with 16 points, just two points ahead of the Mutineers in third. West Bend will play the Friday night before against the Depere Deacons before making the trip to Marquette to round out the weekend.

Both home teams hold the top offense and top scorer for their division. NMU's Allison Carlson has 56 goals and 25 assists for 81 points in 14 games to lead the 'Cats attack. Forward Syd Higgins is also in the top 10 for all players while Kelsey Weyland is one of the top scoring defensemen in the country. Mutineers' forward Dallas McLaughlin is first in the GLHL in goals and points with forwards Ryan Sullivan and Joey Enright are in the top 10 for goals. The Mutineers are first in total goals (80) and second in goals per game (6.15).

Due to the doubleheader, ticket prices are increased to $10 and $5 for anyone with a NMU ID. Children 12 and under receive free admission. 50-50 and chuck-a-puck proceeds will go towards the Wildcats as a way to help fund their trips to conference and national tournaments.

The games are sponsored by Goodwill Industries of Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Intermission prizes were donated by Jilbert's Dairy.
