Mutineers look to stay hot in first leg of a home-and-home series

The Mutineers Ready To Host De Pere Deacons At Home

The Marquette Mutineers (9-7) are coming back home after a three game road trip to take on the De Pere Deacons (2-10-1) at Hockeyville’s Lakeview Arena on Saturday, Feb. 4. Puck drops at 8 p.m..

ALL TIME SERIES

De Pere will be traveling to Lakeview to match up with the Mutineers for the first time in the franchises’ history. After this game every team in the Great Lakes Hockey League would have played each other at least one time.

LAST TIME OUT

The Mutineers return to Lakeview after winning a pair of barn burners last weekend against the Calumet Wolverines by a score of 6-4 the first game and 6-5 in the second. Trailing by four goals early in both of the games played last weekend, the Mutineers were able to rally together for the pair of wins. A hard fought defensive effort and determination to get to the net and paid off for Marquette in sealing both wins.

SPARKING THE OFFENSE

Dallas McLaughlin who is one of the elite forwards for the Mutineers and Great Lakes Hockey League leading scorer, finished the weekend with a total of nine points after both games against the Wolverines, including a hat trick in the first game that tallied up to be his fourth of the season. McLaughlin has shown time and time again this year that he is a playmaker and brings a lot of excitement and energy to the team.

DEFENSE IS KEY

The De Pere Deacons are coming off of a 3-7 loss to the West Bend Bombers but show signs of improvement having their first point streak of the year. The Deacons have had a rough time finishing games this season and their 2-10 record shows but they look to give the Mutineers a game at home. In the Marquette’s most recent two games against the Wolvierines last weekend they gave up a total of nine goals. If they want to keep their playoff chances alive they will need to play more disciplined defense and protect the net.

WELCOME HOME

De Pere's Chris Finn will be returning to Lakeview Arena this game. The former Marquette Senior High School Redman won a state championship during his time with the team. Finn has seven goals and four assists for 11 points in 13 games.
