This week’s Mutineer of the week is Chris “Freebs” Freeborn! He’s twenty-nine years old and he plays defense for the Mutineers.
He is a local hometown native of Marquette. Freeborn works three jobs: as a staff member at the Children’s Museum, hockey ref, and a baseball umpire. Before he started playing for the Mutineers, Freeborn played for the Stone Reflections of the Marquette Men’s League.
Growing up, Chris loved watching Nick Lidstrom referring to him as “the perfect human”. Freeborn really enjoys to golf and play fast pitch softball during the summer when he’s not playing hockey.
One of his favorite memories playing hockey was skating on the pond behind his parents’ house with his friends and teammates every year. Chris first started skating when he was 6 years old on a pond and from there joined organized hockey shortly after. To get ready for hockey, Freeborn goes to morning skates during the summer, rides his bike and lifts some weights. A few fun facts about Chris is that he loves turtles and he honestly believes his best friend is Ben Affleck.
Freeborn has one goal and six assists in 16 games played. Check out Freeborn and the rest of the Mutineers this Saturday as Marquette hosts the De Pere Deacons at 8 p.m..
